Everything an abuser does is designed to make the survivor feel powerless and disembodied. Underground Moves provides one-on-one self-defense classes with a black belt instructor in Krav Maga. Through these sessions, users will learn physical defense skills, situational awareness, and gain an empowered mindset. 

When a survivor begins to see their body as a tool, they begin to recontextualize their experience. Slowly, they regain the identity their abuser worked so hard to erase. Like all of our services, learning self-defense is part of a holistic approach that fuses the physical, emotional, and logistical. This inclusive strategy helps users to recognize their selfhood and potential.

This service also integrates the safety plan that the user and their counselor created. The self-defense instructor will review their home environment and use the safety plan to inform day-to-day protection and preparation should the survivor choose to leave.
